Titus Corlatean, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania at the Symposium on Cultural Diplomacy in the Levant

Bucharest, Romania 24th of May 2013

The forum was organized by the Academy for Cultural Diplomacy in Berlin in partnership with the Senate and the Government of Romania, the Romanian Cultural Institute, the University of Bucharest and the Romanian Foundation for Democracy.

“The diversity of civilizations in the Mediterranean and Levant created a region which enabled the merging of cultures. The diversity encouraged the Levantine population to open the gates to another great innovation: mutual understanding and acceptance of different cultures. So, while we can consider the concept of “cultural diplomacy” as a recent update of the diplomatic vocabulary, it‘s roots go far deeper and indeed they can be located in this cultural fusion that happened in the Levant” (Titus Corlăţean, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania)
