[20140310-2329_o] (Forimmediaterelease.net) Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture, was invited last week to be a keynote speaker at the Berlin International Economic Congress 2014. The invitation was issued to the Minister by Mark Donfried, the Director General of the Institute for Cultural Diplomacy, in which they stated: “In recognition to your remarkable career, we would be honored to welcome you as a speaker during this event. Speakers and delegates for the conference will include over 300 world leaders, dignitaries, and celebrated artists coming from the fields of international economics and politics, academia, and the arts. Your speech would be followed by a moderated question-and-answer session with the audience.”

Minister St.Ange, who was in Berlin for the 2014 ITB tourism trade fair, was welcomed at the Institute for Cultural Diplomacy in Berlin, then addressed a room packed with delegates at the Berlin International Economic Congress 2014 on Cultural Diplomacy and how this approach has helped the marketing of the Seychelles tourism industry. The Minister`s address also centered on global trends and creative economies and how this encompasses the sustainable tourism approach being followed by Seychelles. Minister St.Ange explained the “Seychelles Brand of Tourism” and how the concept of sustainable tourism has been integrated in this brand of tourism.

Minister Alain St.Ange spoke about how the concept of sustainable tourism is helping the island`s branding and its tourism industry in the marketplace. He also spoke about the Seychelles Tourism Master Plan and how this is guiding his ministry in the training of young Seychellois to ensure that in time they occupy the front-of-house positions which would ensure that the island`s color and culture is seen by visitors to the islands.

The Seychelles Minister said that he was honored to have been invited to address the Berlin International Economic Congress 2014 at the Institute for Cultural Diplomacy. “Seychelles has been invited to play its part in the world of tourism at large. This shows that our islands` tourism approach is today being noticed and appreciated. As small as we are, this dream tourism destination of the Seychelles is today making its mark and leaving its footprint on the world of tourism. The Seychellois people as a whole appreciate that their tourism industry is and will remain the pillar of their country`s economy. This is why in Seychelles we remain passionate in the way we manage our industry, because what we are enjoying today must be consolidated for the long term,” Minister Alain St.Ange said as he left the Institute of Cultural Diplomacy on Kudam in Berlin.
